On April 18, 2025, the "See You in Quzhou" China-US People-to-People Cultural Exchange Event—commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War—was held in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province. Hosted by Quzhou Museum and Quzhou Doolittle Raid Historical Research Society and guided by China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), the event brought together over 100 attendees, including scholars, China-US friendship advocates, media representatives and college students.
Han Qiang, President of Quzhou Doolittle Raid Historical Research Society, delivered a welcome speech. Ambassador Wang Donghua of CPDA, Gao Anming, Editor-in-Chief of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, and Sha Hailin, President of Shanghai Public Relations Association, attended the event and delivered speeches. Zhang Jianmin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco, addressed the event via video.

In his speech, Ambassador Wang Donghua stated that the year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 83rd anniversary of the Doolittle Raid rescue mission. Hosting a China-U.S. friendship exchange event under the theme "Let History Illuminate the Future," which revisits the glorious history of the Chinese and American people fighting side by side, holds significant practical meaning. It allows us to draw rich nourishment from history, carry forward the friendship between the peoples of China and the U.S., and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
Ambassador Wang also remarked, the essence of the theme "Let History Illuminate the Future" lies in ensuring that the friendship between the Chinese and American people is passed down through generations, and the fundamental task is to steer the development of China-U.S. relations in the right direction. The youth of China and the U.S. represent not only the future of both nations but also the future of bilateral relations. Ambassador Wang expressed his hope that young people from both countries would live up to the expectations of the times, shoulder their historical responsibilities, make good use of their unique strengths, and enhance exchanges and interactions. He encouraged them to persistently strengthen the friendship between the two peoples, and continuously accumulate positive energy for the healthy development of bilateral relations.

During the event, attendees visited the Quzhou Doolittle Raid Rescue Site and the Doolittle Raid Memorial Hall. Historical research scholars and descendants of the rescuers engaged in dialogues and exchanges centered on the theme "Let History Illuminate the Future." Chinese and American guests, along with young students, planted “friendship trees” and watched A Bowl of Egg Noodles, a short play inspired by the local rescue stories of the Doolittle Raid.
