On March 3, 2026, Chen Xu, President of the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), attended the opening ceremony of the “2026 China–Russia Sanya Dialogue” held in Sanya, Hainan Province, and delivered remarks. More than 40 experts and scholars from diplomatic and think tank communities of the two countries participated in the event.

Chen noted that the world today is undergoing complex and profound changes. The steady development of China–Russia relations not only serves the well-being of the peoples of both countries, but also provides important support for maintaining global strategic stability and promoting world peace and development. This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China–Russia strategic partnership of coordination, and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia. Both sides should follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, seize the historic opportunity, and strengthen practical cooperation across various fields. Through deeper strategic coordination and a more proactive sense of responsibility as major countries, the two sides should ensure that China–Russia relations continue to develop along the right track, injecting greater certainty and positive momentum into global peace, stability, development, and prosperity. The CPDA stands ready to work with friends from all sectors in Russia to further promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and add new vitality to the China–Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.

The “2026 China–Russia Sanya Dialogue” was jointly organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Beijing Club for International Dialogue. Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of TV BRICS; Ivan Timofeev, Director General of the RIAC; Yu Yunquan, Vice President of China International Communications Group (CICG); and Eric Xun Li, Director of the Advisory Committee of Beijing Club for International Dialogue, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Participating experts and scholars engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including U.S. foreign strategy under the current international landscape, the China–Russia partnership, China–Russia dialogue within the Eurasian framework, and trends and prospects for the Global South in 2026, reaching broad consensus on many issues.
