China Public Diplomacy Association Held Online Talk with Overseas Chinese and Chinese Enterprises in Africa on Risk Prevention

  China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), Chinese Media Group in Africa, and Academy of Media and Public Affairs of Communication University of China (CUC) co-hosted online talk with overseas Chinese and Chinese enterprises in Africa on risk prevention under the theme of “joining hands to face together” on April 30, 2020. H.E. Zhao Yanbo, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Liu Biwei, Vice President of CPDA, H.E. Ambassador Kuang Weilin, former Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, H.E. Zhong Jianhua, former Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs, and Mr. Nan Gengxu, President of Chinese Media Group in Africa attended the talk and delivered keynote speeches. Mr. Yang Yujun, Dean of Academy of Media and Public Affairs of CUC chaired the talk. Over 50 guests from 15 countries joined the online talk, including Mr. Zhang Chunwang, Director of the China Institute of Overseas Chinese, Professor Zhang Zhenke, Director of the Center of African Studies of Nanjing University (CASNJU), representatives of overseas Chinese and Chinese media in Africa.

  H.E. Zhao Yanbo introduced China’s achievements in fighting the pandemic and asked the Chinese and Chinese enterprises in Africa to take measures to protect themselves. H.E. Liu Biwei said that the traditional friendship between China and Africa was everlasting. China-Africa cooperation on fighting the outbreak was significant. Overseas Chinese in Africa should unite together and help each other to battle the outbreak. H.E. Zhong Jianhua and H.E. Kuang Weilin analyzed the current situation of China-Africa fighting the pandemic. Overseas Chinese in Africa shall serve as a bridge to promote bilateral cooperation on fighting the pandemic. Representatives exchanged ideas on cooperation between overseas Chinese and local governments in Africa on fighting the outbreak to further promote China-Africa friendship.

  It was generally agreed that Africa is facing the challenge of battling against the devastating COVID-19 pandemic and China and Africa should further deepen cooperation on health, medical care and scientific technology, and enhance mutual understanding and respect between the two peoples to contribute to deepening China-Africa friendship.
